Creating a Business

Business Requirements

Businesses must have the proper registrations, licenses and or permits before they can legally open for business. Businesses are subject to municipal, county, state, and federal requirements. Regulations vary by industry, so it's very important to understand the licensing rules where your business is located.

Small Business Development Center – The SBDC helps foster small business success by providing one-on-one business advising, technical assistance, training programs, advocacy, and research services.


State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) -  You may be eligible for State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) certification if proof of citizenship or naturalization and a Federal Tax Identification number are provided.  Please note: HUB certificate is issued directly by the State of Texas HUB-Link.  The HUB certification provides businesses with the opportunity to compete for contracts with state and local government entities.
